Business Mechanix have been working with Microsoft products for a number of years including Microsoft Exchange, CRM, Access, Office 365 and more. For businesses email has become a way of life and staff have now become accustomed using it almost every day. Most industries, in every sector use email in same shape or form and the Microsoft Exchange or Outlook emailing solution is most common platform of choice. Whilst other options are on the market Microsoft has proven with its ability to be one step ahead of the game. Business Mechanix has the experience in dealing with both large scale and complex mail boxes. We have delivered online email solutions to some of the biggest institute’s in New Zealand including Victoria University, Manukau Insatiate of Technology and Whitireia New Zealand. At these institutes we migrated their students email from their current solution onto Office 365 which incorporates exchange Online.
We have also delivered successful exchange training for Windows based computers for a number of tertiary providers including The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, Victoria University and most recently, AUT.
Single sign-on functionality now means that we can deliver a seamless user experience between systems including Microsoft Exchange (on premise or online). Our experience in this area includes our work with Lincoln University where we implemented Microsoft Exchange Labs (now Office 365 which includes Exchange Online) with single sign-on functionality, this was significant as it included high levels of encryption which we built into the process. Another example is at The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand where we provided single sign-on with their Exchange Online and their student learning system, Moodle. At Otago Polytechnic we integrated single sign on with Live@edu and SharePoint. These examples are only a snippet of our capabilities around single single-on and exchange online.
Internally, Business Mechanix used to run and manage our exchange server on premise until recently where we discovered the cost saving benefits and stability of moving our emails up to the cloud far outweighed the cost of keeping our emails on premise. We successfully migrated our staff’s mail boxes into exchange online, some of these mail boxes carried a lot of data and information – but to us that was not a barrier! As a result, we now no longer worry about managing an aging Exchange Server and we have peace of mind that Microsoft are looking after our email and with local replication to Outlook (we have our own back-ups anyway). But overall we have saved thousands of dollars in everything from power to slots in and load on our UPS, licensing and air-conditioning, reduced risk and as an added bonus, staff now have more functionality with SharePoint Online and Office WebApps- something they are all pleased to have and love having access to this and the additional Skydrive storage.
